The broader market is still grinding sideways today. Bitcoin is at $77,718, up 0.68% over 24 hours; Ethereum is at $2,264, up 1.08%; and SOL is at $95.47, down 0.48%. Taken together, the three aren’t showing much direction.
The standout in this market is POWR, the token of Power Ledger, a project focused on decentralized energy trading. It’s currently around $0.07, up 25.8% over 24 hours and 31.8% over the past seven days, with trading volume reaching the tens of millions of dollars.
What makes it seem different from the usual one-day wonder is that it had already started climbing before today. A gain of over 30% in seven days means it had been moving up for several days, with today adding another leg to the rally. I usually glance at a one-day spike and move on, but when something keeps rising for several days, I take a closer look.
There is one thing that gives me pause, though: after looking around, I couldn’t find any new news today to explain the surge. A rally without fresh news can look great while it’s going smoothly, but when prices pull back, there’s nothing to support them, so volatility can be considerably higher than for tokens with a news catalyst.
So my view is that the short-term bias is bullish and momentum is still there—but that bullish view is based on momentum, not news. If you don’t already hold any, chasing at this level means assuming the upward momentum will continue, and I wouldn’t make that assumption. If you already hold some, you could watch to see whether this string of gains holds up, rather than letting a single down day wipe out all the gains from the past few days.
When you come across a token that keeps rising for several days without any news, do you focus on momentum first, or wait for news that explains the gains?
