Apple CEO John Ternus recently defended the company’s approach to artificial intelligence in an interview. According to Sina Finance, Ternus said Apple would use AI in new products but would not add it for its own sake; what matters, he said, is building products users love, regardless of whether a feature is powered by AI or conventional software. A longtime Apple executive, Ternus officially became CEO in early September. He acknowledged that people have different views of Apple’s position in AI, after years of criticism that the company was falling behind and delays to a more capable version of Siri, which launched this summer. Asked whether AI agents could make apps unnecessary, Ternus said that might make life more convenient, but product creation is a deeply human, personal, and creative endeavor that Apple loves.
