How to trade short-term futures today: let’s talk framework

Whether to take this trade? Funding rates are more honest than candlesticks.

Futures only care about three sets of numbers. Everything else is noise.

1. BTC 77542, 24h 77114-77796, change +0.36%.
2. BTC open interest notional: 7.53 billion dollars, 24h +1.15%
3. Account-wide long/short ratio: 2.57

My take: The funding rate is near zero at 0.0100%, and the long/short ratio is 2.57. Leverage hasn’t picked a side. If it hasn’t picked a side, don’t use high leverage to pick one for it.

Execution ranges (based on current price ± structure, not an old chart):
- Momentum zone: Only consider chasing after it gets above 78,162; if it doesn’t, it’s a false breakout
- Buy the pullback: 76,611-77,077; don’t buy if it loses this range
- No-trade zone: If the 1h candle closes below 76,146, skip this trade

My position: I only trade pullbacks, not breakout chases. If the structure holds, I can keep a core position; any additions must wait for the pullback zone.

Takeaway: A low VIX means volatility is being suppressed, not that risk has disappeared.
Idea: BTC fast-tier transaction fees are rising: on-chain activity is still there, and spot can be more stable than futures.
