Just recently, a crypto executive lost $14,000 because of a stolen iPhone!
Magnus Ahmad, a crypto executive in London, lost $14,000 after handing his unlocked iPhone to a stranger. Of that amount, $9,500 in crypto from MetaMask, Phantom, and Bybit vanished in the blink of an eye. Another $3,000 from his bank card and $800 from an eToro transaction also disappeared.
This is an expensive wake-up call: an unlocked phone with financial apps, especially crypto apps, is a ticking time bomb. Having identity documents on the device also creates a long-term risk of fraud.
Ahmadโs golden advice: freeze your accounts remotely immediately, then contact your bank, mobile carrier, and the police. Never chase the thief.
How have you protected your crypto assets on your phone?
