To the newcomers of the new world ~ “Switches and Channels”

Hackers struck an exchange, and the risk-control switch flickered on the DeFi side, too.

According to reports, the attack path involved depositing about 60 million USDT into Aave V3 and borrowing around $44.6 million in WETH (unverified). Aave’s multichain markets were temporarily frozen as a precaution; withdrawals and repayments remained available. V3 and V4 markets were later announced as unfrozen, with Aave saying the contracts were not directly affected and positions remained fully collateralized.

A freeze is a fuse. Unfreezing doesn’t mean the risk is gone.

On the other side, a channel is opening toward compliance. ICE, the parent company of the NYSE, and trade[XYZ] plan to launch U.S.-regulated, 24/7 perpetuals based on Hyperliquid infrastructure, subject to CFTC approval, covering equity indices, commodities, foreign exchange, crypto, and more. Stan Druckenmiller said he was investing and would trade on the platform himself. HYPE was discussed as having risen against the broader trend (the gain is unverified).

CFTC Chair Selig is using the Binance incident to promote a voluntary federal registration pathway for crypto exchanges, emphasizing cybersecurity and customer protection; mandatory registration would still require Congress. DTCC’s tokenization services remain under discussion, with tokenized representations of roughly $30 trillion worth of DTC-custodied securities in view—“tokenizable” does not mean that the volume has already been traded on-chain.

On one side, a switch in a crisis; on the other, a channel through regulation.

As Fed officials lean hawkish and bets on rate hikes intensify, crypto liquidity is more sensitive to shocks to confidence. Whether the switch can be flipped in time and the channel can hold up under regulation will together determine whether capital is willing to stay.

In the short term, watch freezes and recoveries; in the medium term, registration and infrastructure; in the long term, whether trust can be repriced.

The above is for sharing information and views only and does not constitute investment advice.

Risk controls flash—the fuse is lit,
Perpetuals await the green light.
Crisis and regulation arrive the same day;
Trust will measure who chooses to stay.
