【$BTC has been grinding for 9 hours: volatility is squeezed to the extreme; a direction should emerge soon】
#K线结构 #波动率 #Market Analysis
First, the data.
$BTC ’s 1-hour ATR is now 254.1 points, compared with an average ATR of 545.4 over the past 60 hourly candles—that’s compressed to 0.47x. $ETH is even more extreme, with an ATR of 7.4 versus an average of 20.6, or just 0.36x.
When volatility is compressed this much, a directional move is usually not far off, but nobody can know in advance which way it will go.
Look at the pattern over these 9 hours. The 1-hour lows on the 31st were 77,154.9 at 05:00, 77,200.5 at 06:00, 77,268.5 at 07:00, 77,221.6 at 08:00, 77,320.7 at 09:00, 77,366.4 at 10:00, and 77,370 at 11:00—the lows have been steadily rising. The highs show the same pattern: 77,297 → 77,475.6 → 77,434.8 → 77,498 → 77,444.9 → 77,509.7 → 77,664.9.
This is a textbook pattern of rising lows and rising highs, with price action compressed into a narrow band. Starting from the 77,060 low formed during the 03:00–04:00 sell-off, this is an ascending channel that is still extending.
But there’s a problem: volume.
The 11:00 1-hour candle traded 264 million, versus a 20-period average of 290 million—0.91x. The previous closed 4-hour candle (opened at 04:00) traded 670 million, versus a 20-period average of 2.474 billion—0.27x.
Price pushed the channel up a notch, but volume didn’t follow. The 09:00 candle traded just 84 million, only 0.29x the 20-period average.
There are two ways to interpret this price-volume divergence: either selling pressure has genuinely dried up and sellers can’t push price down, so it can only grind higher; or buyers simply haven’t shown up, and nobody is willing to sell at this level. To tell which is the case, we need to see whether volume picks up on the breakout candle.
Moving averages (closed candles): 1-hour MA5 77,404.9 / MA20 77,197.5 / MA50 78,185.1, RSI 73.1; 4-hour MA5 77,245.5 / MA20 79,174.6 / MA50 80,010.1, RSI 37.2; daily MA5 79,513.7 / MA20 81,381 / MA50 82,242.5, RSI 32.5.
The 1-hour RSI at 73.1 is already overbought, but the 4-hour RSI has risen from 30.0 this morning to 37.2, while the daily RSI is still at 32.5. The higher the timeframe, the weaker the reading. This gradient shows that the short-term recovery has yet to carry over to the medium term.
Key levels:
Support: 77,370 (11:00 1-hour low) / 77,221.6 (08:00 4-hour low) / 77,060 (this morning’s 4-hour low)
Resistance: 77,664.9 (11:00 1-hour high) / 78,081.3 (24-hour high) / 78,185.1 (1-hour MA50)
My approach: 77,370 is the lifeline of this channel. The breakout will only count as valid if that level holds and the volume seen on the 11:00 candle (264 million) is matched by the candle that breaks through 77,664.9. If so, the likely target is 78,081. Conversely, if 77,370 breaks, the sequence of rising lows will be broken, and 77,060 will need to be retested.
With ATR at 0.47x, I won’t guess the direction; I’ll wait for price to show it. But one thing is certain: when volatility is compressed this much, stop-losses shouldn’t be set at their usual distance. An ATR of 254 points counts as a large move in this environment, and a stop can easily be swept by an ordinary price fluctuation.
$ETH shows a similar pattern, but more extreme: 1-hour ATR 7.4 / average 20.6 = 0.36x; 1-hour RSI 60.5, MA5 2,243.5 / MA20 2,240.5 / MA50 2,258.6; 4-hour MA5 2,241.9 / MA20 2,291.2 / MA50 2,325.4, RSI 37.0; daily MA5 2,305.4 / MA20 2,394.5 / MA50 2,462.5, RSI 27.4. Support: 2,236.85 (08:00 1-hour low) / 2,206.36 (24-hour low); resistance: 2,261.48 (24-hour high) / 2,258.6 (1-hour MA50).
