Unexpectedly, just last week Musk warned that the AI funding environment was tightening, and now even ChatGPT's OpenAI can't hold up.

The Financial Times reports that OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has cut the amount of its latest funding round by a third, while its valuation has fallen from 1.4 trillion to 1.25 trillion.

The reason is that some prospective investors have voluntarily reduced their investment commitments, and the first tranche could not even be fully funded at closing.
