【$6.3 billion stolen, with about $2.9 billion still in hackers’ hands and not frozen】
According to incomplete statistics (the incident is still unfolding, so the figures below may change at any time), tracking by security firm BlockSec shows that the approximately $6.3 billion in assets stolen from Binance are spread across at least 10 chains:
Confirmed frozen: approximately $2.798 billion
Rescued or handled by project teams or chains: approximately $38.47 million (for example, the portion transferred by the Arbitrum Security Council)
Still in hackers’ addresses: approximately $2.924 billion in verified assets across just four categories—BTC, ETH, XRP, and SOL
Analysis: The assets that can be frozen are mainly stablecoins with issuers, such as USDT and USDC, as well as a few chains with emergency powers. No one can freeze major cryptocurrencies such as BTC and ETH, and this is the truly difficult portion to recover. How the hackers split up the funds, swap tokens, and move them across chains will be key to recovering the assets.
