When some assets on the list surge while others fall back, it’s easy to get caught up making up stories about the prices. Over a rolling 24-hour period, $CVC +20.00%. Over a rolling 24-hour period, $PROVE +20.17%. Over a rolling 24-hour period, $BOTB -13.46%. These are the spot price changes for three different tokens; they are not project developments, nor do they prove the tokens share a common cause. A sharp rise can trigger fear of missing out, while a steep drop can make you want to find an explanation immediately. Neither impulse can take the place of evidence.

What I most want to verify is whether CVC and PROVE’s gains are backed by sustained buying. The only things that can be confirmed right now are the price changes and the corresponding 24-hour trading volumes: about $933,000 for CVC and $1.866 million for PROVE. Trading volume is not order book depth; it can’t tell us whether buying can absorb sell orders, nor whether selling is concentrated. I don’t have order book data, information on the concentration of holdings, or subsequent trading data. I’m concerned this may be just a short-term fluctuation, though I could be wrong; we can’t conclude that someone is pumping the price to sell off just because it rose quickly.

BOTB’s decline doesn’t mean the project is in trouble, nor is it evidence that it’s going to zero. What we can confirm for now is the contrast between the three prices; we still lack direct evidence about the causes. If verifiable records of ongoing trades later show that the rise continues to be supported by buyers, or if new facts directly related to these tokens emerge, I’ll reassess this round of changes. Until then, the price movements are data to be recorded, not a reason to pass judgment on the projects.
