Safe announced the launch of its dedicated SAFE hardware wallet and opened pre-orders. The appeal isn’t simply that it adds another cold wallet; it’s that it further integrates smart accounts, multisig management, and offline signing across the Safe ecosystem. For users who hold on-chain assets for the long term, keeping private keys offline and separating multisig permissions remain important ways to reduce authorization and theft risks.

Before pre-ordering, however, it’s worth checking three things: the price and shipping schedule, the supported blockchains and connection methods, and whether the firmware is open source and can be independently verified. A hardware wallet is never a guarantee of absolute security just because you bought one—safeguarding your recovery phrase, verifying recipient addresses, and managing contract approvals are just as important.

$SAFE Whether the device can strengthen the ecosystem’s competitive moat remains to be seen; we can keep an eye on the first users’ real-world experience.
