Saw this on Sui’s official account: Mercado Bitcoin, a leading Latin American exchange with around 4.5 million customers, has integrated $SUI / USDC / USDsui into Brazil’s regulated environment, calling itself the first exchange in Brazil to support transfers of Sui assets. Customers can buy, sell, send, and receive all three; USDsui can also be used directly as loan collateral.
Further discussions are underway: migrating its RWA platform—which has issued over 800 tokenized assets since 2019—to Sui; and exploring integration of Hashi (Sui’s native BTC orchestration layer) with its existing lending products. Hashi’s mainnet is slated for this month, but product launches still need to clear internal governance and Brazilian regulatory requirements, so they aren’t available yet. MB holds a Brazilian Central Bank payment institution license, integrates natively with Pix, and supports real-time conversion between the Brazilian real and USD stablecoins.
This payment and compliance channel in Brazil is quite significant for non-USD stablecoins and RWAs.
