STABLE is upgrading to v1.9.0—why shouldn’t we focus only on TPS this time?
At 09:00 UTC on October 31, Stable plans to activate mainnet v1.9.0 at block 45,091,000. According to the project’s October 28 announcement, this upgrade focuses on security hardening and network resilience, not higher performance benchmarks.
Specifically, it addresses two layers: adding security protections at the protocol level, alongside ongoing security reviews of the underlying protocol and upstream dependencies; and improving operational stability to support consistent, reliable transaction processing and settlement.
The announcement provides no new TPS benchmark figures. So we shouldn’t invent claims like “throughput has doubled,” or treat a planned upgrade as already complete.
I’d watch for the rollout to happen as planned first, then whether the network operates smoothly, and only after that how the market prices it. The engineering goals are worth tracking, but they don’t guarantee a price increase or mean the system is now risk-free.
