DOGE is leading; are the others following?

I only pay attention to memes when they have independent buying pressure. Otherwise, I treat them as volatility.

For memes, first check whether the leader has volume, then see whether the smaller coins dare to follow.

PEPE 0.00000496 (+11.71%), WIF 0.1781 (+6.14%), BONK 0.00000296 (+4.96%), SHIB 0.00000478 (+2.80%)

For comparison: BTC 76884 (24h -2.42%).

PEPE is clearly outperforming BTC, up 11.71% over 24h versus BTC down 2.42%, which indicates independent buying pressure. But DOGE is only down 0.46%, so the sector isn't moving in unison. I'll only trade the leader, not fantasize about laggards catching up.

BTC is still at 76884 (-2.42%). Until BTC gets above 77,499, I'll treat any move in memes as noise.

If the gap between the leader and the weakest coin narrows to within 2 percentage points, independent buying pressure has disappeared, and I'll close the position.

Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing figures are not filled in.
Would you dare add to your position at this funding rate?

Takeaway: Cheaper L2s aren't equivalent in security to mainnet; exit windows and sequencers are both risks.
Inspiration: If the strongest meme coin hasn't beaten BTC by 2%: treat it as volatility, not a sector-wide move.
