The overnight link between U.S. stocks and crypto, explained

First, read through the U.S. stock numbers, then decide whether crypto is following.

To see which sectors are leading and which are falling behind, look at the percentage moves, not the stories.

Gold 3,890 (5-day -3.67%, Yahoo)
VIX 21.40 (5-day +16.37%)
S&P 7,559 (5-day -0.84%, Yahoo)

My take: The Nasdaq is down 2.53% over 5 days, trailing the S&P's -0.84%. Growth stocks are falling behind. Chasing AI coins right now means catching the beta that U.S. stocks have already started dumping.

Flows: BTC 77080 (-4.63%). ETH at -4.22% is outperforming BTC at -4.63%, with an exchange rate of 0.02907. This looks like risk appetite spilling over, not BTC acting alone.

The VIX is now at 21.40. Once it moves above 18, I cut my futures position in half. I'm not arguing with the U.S. closing price.

My positioning: I don't buy the first dip. Until the drop is accompanied by a decline in open interest, buying on the way down is just catching a falling knife.

Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily charts (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing numbers are not filled in.
Would you dare add to your position at this funding rate?

Useful takeaway: When large on-chain holders transfer to exchanges, treat it as supply first, not a show of faith.
Insight: The dollar has strengthened over 5 days while BTC is still rising: treat it as an independent move, and discount its staying power.

Personal opinion; see the sources in the main text for the numbers. This is not a trading instruction.
