The Strait of Hormuz has completely blown up today.

Five oil tankers in trouble in one day: Iran’s navy says it shot down an “enemy drone,” and two tankers caught fire; the Revolutionary Guards said a third took an “illegal route” and hit a mine, causing an explosion. The wording makes it clear things are escalating.

There’s no need to spell out how this feeds into oil prices: when the Middle East’s oil artery is hit day after day, Brent is hardly likely to fall. More troubling, markets have priced in an 80% chance of a Fed rate hike in December. GDP at 3.4% and core PCE at 3.1% are both hot readings; another jump in oil prices will add fuel to the fire, making the energy-inflation picture hard to stomach.

U.S. stocks were a slaughterhouse today. Intel plunged 29% at the open, its worst showing since 1974, and is down by half from its June high. On Hyperliquid, $INTC perpetuals fell below 64.5, setting another record. The Nasdaq dropped 2.8%, with Nvidia, Micron, and Oracle all taking a beating.

Stock perps have gone mainstream, and the line between crypto and U.S. equities is getting blurrier. $BTC is languishing below $80,000, Binance’s $6.3 billion trust debt remains unpaid, and Polymarket has once again suspended international trading.

Geopolitical risk, tightening expectations, and platform blowups are bearing down from three directions. Don’t buy the dip late Friday—the weekend liquidity will be thin. Keep your hands off.
