Just saw these numbers: $1.5 billion in liquidations 😮
Long positions accounted for nearly 90% of that…
Put simply, this wasn’t a “pullback”—it was a targeted blowout of highly leveraged longs~
As soon as news broke that Binance had been hacked, prices plunged in an instant. Automated liquidations kicked in, leaving people no time to react.
Those holding highly leveraged long positions didn’t necessarily get the direction wrong—they simply never got the chance to wait for a rebound.
I don’t think we should mistake “the liquidations are over” for “we’ve hit the bottom.”
A lot of people see the price bounce after that sharp wick and assume everything’s fine.
But it’s not that simple. Liquidations just mean leverage has been forcibly flushed out; they don’t mean spot buyers have really returned.
The hack and the fundamentals behind crypto prices are two different things.
The market looks lighter now because everyone who was going to get liquidated already has been.
A lighter market doesn’t mean prices are about to rise—it just means there’s temporarily no one left to stop them from falling~
So, everyone, if you still have positions open, don’t rush to throw the margin you just added back onto the table. At a time like this, staying in the game matters more than trying to catch the bottom~
