While Binance claims that users’ funds are protected by the SAFU fund, everyday traders are already suffering enormous additional losses due to the biggest market crash:

  • $1.52 billion in liquidations in 24 hours: A sharp drop in futures prices triggered a domino effect. Losses for traders who opened long positions (bets on prices rising) exceeded $607 million in just one hour.

  • Portfolio devaluation: Bitcoin (BTC) fell below $79,000, Ethereum (ETH) dropped to a two-month low (below $2,240), while Binance’s native token, BNB, was hit hardest, plunging by more than 5–8% to around $709.

  • Asset freeze: The complete suspension of deposits and withdrawals on Binance left traders unable to protect their capital, transfer it to other exchanges, or lock in profits.

  • Wave of checks (KYC/AML): As part of the investigation and freeze of Tether and Circle stablecoins, the exchange initiated a transaction audit. Ordinary users (especially P2P traders) risk having their accounts blocked until they verify the source of their funds.
