$HYPE BTC dropped more than 3% today, while this one is actually in the green. This unusual move deserves a closer look.

Gate perpetuals are now around 92.07, up about 3.7% over 24 hours, with a daily high of 97.03 and a low of 88.50. Volume is about 210 million U. At the same time, BTC is around 77,410, down about 3.4% over 24 hours. One is down more than 3%, the other up more than 3%—a seven-point gap. This isn't BTC lifting it; buyers are stepping in on HYPE itself.

The most notable move came at 4 a.m. From 4:40 to 4:50, three consecutive five-minute candles each saw 4.6 to 4.9 million U in volume. Price first plunged to 89.995, then rebounded to 95.12 within ten minutes. The 4 a.m. hour saw about 22 million U in volume, the highest of the day. Roughly 44,000 U in longs were liquidated during that hour, and open interest fell from about 52.32 million contracts to about 49.02 million, a drop of around 6%. Put simply, leveraged traders who chased the price higher got shaken out, but the wick low held above 90.

What's more interesting is what happened after the shakeout. Open interest started climbing steadily again from 8 a.m., reaching about 51.71 million contracts now, while notional value recovered from about 448 million U to around 475 million U. Daytime volume was actually modest—two to five million U an hour—and price just churned between 91 and 93.6 instead of following BTC lower. The account long/short ratio gradually rose from about 0.66 to around 0.76, still below 1, which suggests there are still more bearish accounts. The funding rate is only +0.005%, so things aren't overheated at all. This kind of market doesn't look like retail chasing; it looks more like someone quietly placing bids below.

My view: bullish, but don't chase. Price has already made one push above 97, and chasing it around 92 now doesn't offer great risk/reward. I'd rather wait for one of two scenarios. First, a pullback to the 90–91 area on declining volume, with no significant drop in open interest. That would be the support zone after this morning's shakeout, where I might try a small long position. Second, a high-volume move back above 93.6, with hourly volume returning to more than 10 million U. Then I'd look for a retest of 97.

What if I'm wrong? If an hourly candle closes below 89.99—the low of this morning's wick—and open interest drops again, that means the buyers below have pulled out. I'll admit I'm wrong and exit the long. If BTC breaks below 76,000 first, I'll reduce my position regardless of how strong HYPE looks. Even a strong countertrend move can't withstand BTC selling off relentlessly.

A quick check on another call: this morning I said not to try to catch INTW halfway down. It was around 9.48 then and is now around 8.83, down 50% over 24 hours. That call holds up.
