I was originally planning to post a 10,000-character thank-you letter for making the top 100 today, but I’ll put it off until tomorrow.
I hope everything goes smoothly with this incident and that as much of the loss as possible can be recovered. As users, there’s no need for us to worry too much—let the platform and the professionals handle it. Our assets haven’t suffered any losses, and that’s one of the benefits of choosing a mainstream platform.
Looking back over the industry’s history, black swan events and thefts have happened time and again, reminding us to take security seriously as the industry develops.
This is a spontaneous idea (@鸟哥 Bluebird Labs —someone mentioned it in the comments): I’d like to start a small volunteer group. Given our limited skills and resources, we can’t get involved in major incidents.
But we can help with some smaller issues that retail users often run into, such as mistaken transfers, lost funds, tracking, analysis, consultations, and tutorials.
If you’re interested, come chat with us. It would be really fulfilling to use some of our free time to make even a small contribution to the industry!
