Panic dumps like this one are where most traders lose money, and it is rarely the dump itself that does it.
The pattern I see every time is the same: price crashes on shocking news, traders sell at the bottom out of fear, then they buy back higher when the bounce looks safe, and they get caught twice. My rule for headline crashes is boring on purpose. I cut my size in half, I never add to a losing position during panic, I wait for price to prove a level instead of guessing the bottom, and I accept missing the exact low. In this market that means waiting for either a reclaim of $80,000 or a clean breakdown under $76,400 before I commit real size.
