Official Binance updates regarding the security incident
1️⃣ Investigation update, 10:47 AM Cairo time
The initial investigation suggested that a compromised laptop was the cause, but it turned out there were other points of compromise in a sophisticated attack. Binance will cover all losses using the SAFU fund and company funds, and users' funds are safe. Withdrawals are still expected to resume in about 45 hours, and deposits were not affected. Outflows stopped as soon as withdrawals were halted, and about $3 billion has been frozen so far.

2️⃣ Asset recovery begins, 12:55 PM Cairo time
Binance has begun recovering the affected assets for users. It is continuing to work with law enforcement agencies, issuers, blockchain analytics firms, and industry partners to track, freeze, and recover additional funds.
