Trezor issued a hardware wallet security warning
It looks pretty alarming
What we know
A responsible disclosure reported that a Safe 5 sold by the Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis
may have had an extra circuit board secretly installed
with a cellular module and antenna
The report says it could potentially read the recovery phrase on the screen and transmit it externally
Trezor has not yet received the physical device to verify this in a lab
But based on the description and video communication
it shared the warning as a credible risk for now
No buyers have reported losing funds so far
The practical advice is clear
If you bought from CryptoBilis starting in March 2026
move your assets as soon as possible to a new wallet with a brand-new recovery phrase
Don't enter your old recovery phrase into the suspicious device again
The company says you can contact support to get a replacement device
Hardware wallets are also vulnerable to supply-chain risks
Buy devices through official channels
Don't be tempted by cheap deals from unknown resellers
