Is Bitcoin really worth all this? BTC
A philosophical question that goes beyond mere prices and numbers…
How can a currency we can’t touch, that isn’t issued by a country, and isn’t backed by a government, be worth tens of thousands of dollars?
Does its value lie in its technology? Or in its scarcity and limited supply? Or in the trust that millions of people and institutions place in it?
It reminds me of what happened in the Netherlands during the seventeenth century, when tulips became a speculative asset and the prices of some bulbs reached absurd levels.
The flower hadn’t become anything extraordinary; people’s perception of it and their expectations about its price had changed.
Perhaps the answer lies in a deeper truth: value isn’t always found in what we hold in our hands, but in what we all agree is valuable.
Gold derives some of its value from its scarcity and history, the dollar derives its strength from trust and the economy behind it, while Bitcoin is betting on decentralization, scarcity, and trust in a system that no single entity controls.
But the most important question remains:
Are we witnessing a financial revolution that will reshape the world, or a digital asset whose market value may prove, in time, to have exceeded its real value?
Is Bitcoin worth its price, or is it people’s trust that creates its price?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
