๐Ÿšจ Breaking: Binance security incident shakes markets as Bitcoin briefly falls below $77,000 before a strong rebound

The crypto market experienced sharp volatility over the past 24 hours, driven by one key event: Binance disclosed a security incident affecting about $6.3 billion in assets, setting a record for the largest single incident in the industry. Binance has pledged to cover losses through its SAFU Fund and suspended deposits and withdrawals for security checks.

As for prices, $BTC briefly fell to around $76,460 before rebounding to near $78,000. It is currently trading at about $78,016, down roughly 2.3% over 24 hours; $ETH is currently at about $2,231, down roughly 3.5%; BNB is around $707, down roughly 5.5%; and Solana is around $97, down roughly 2.6%โ€”prices are in the red across the board.

The knock-on effects were also severe: about $1.5 billion in liquidations across the market in 24 hours, including roughly $1.3 billion in long positions, with more than 240,000 traders forcibly liquidated. Tether has frozen over 1.567 billion USDT, Circle has frozen about 823 million USDC, and Arbitrum's Security Council also urgently froze 74.56 million tokens in the hacker's wallet.

Notably, Standard Chartered warned that markets may remain under pressure in the short term until more details of the incident are disclosed and the handling of frozen assets becomes clearer. Others, however, believe that the exchange's commitment to cover losses, combined with on-chain freezes, could gradually ease market panic.

What do you think of this sharp dropโ€”is it a buying opportunity caused by excessive panic, or just another leg down? After the rebound, would you wait on the sidelines or enter in stages? Share your thoughts in the comments ๐Ÿ‘‡
