Something happened to the international Polymarket prediction market site on Thursday—not a breach of its own core systems, but its third-party monitoring service DebugBear was compromised. Malicious scripts used active login sessions to liquidate positions and drain wallets. Analysts estimate the incident affected around 2.7 million in value and involved roughly 710 wallets (CNBC/CoinDesk, October 29).
The platform temporarily halted trading, then resumed after about an hour. It said affected users would be fully reimbursed and that it had reported the incident to law enforcement in the UK. The US platform reportedly wasn’t affected.
