First, let's look at yesterday's closing figures. In its October 29 closing statistics published on October 30, Basis Desk reported that Bitcoin closed at $77,777, down 4.2%, while the total crypto market cap was $2.64 trillion, down 2.1%. Of the 50 largest coins, only 4 rose and 35 fell, with a median loss of 6.8%. The Fear & Greed Index also dropped to 30 from 51 the previous day, entering the fear zone.

In this market, $TRX is something of an exception. At the time of writing, Finnhub's Binance spot price was $0.3528, up 6.75%. Bybit, citing CoinGecko data for October 30 at 8:42 a.m., listed it at $0.3537, up 7.44% in 24 hours, with a market cap of $33.6 billion and 24-hour trading volume of $1.43 billion. The two sources use different figures, but agree on the direction and price range, so I'll describe it as around $0.35, up about 7%.

In the same closing-market report, Monero rose 1.2% to close at $603.65, with quotes from CoinLore and other sources still above $600 today. Things were less kind elsewhere: Ethena fell 16.3%, and NEAR dropped 14.3%. Put the gainers and losers side by side, and the contrast is stark.

The most relevant recent news is an announcement from TRON DAO on October 28: Blockchain.com had listed TRX options, available only to users in eligible regions. But that news came last week, so using it to explain today's 7% gain feels like a stretch. I'll treat it as background, not the cause. This TRX rally looks more like an old coin holding up well: it usually stays out of the spotlight, but in a down market, it seems sturdier by comparison.

Of course, a gain of around 7% doesn't mean the trend has reversed. The fear index is still at 30, and the broader market is still falling. Today's list looks more like a search for a few coins that haven't fallen along with everything else. Do you hold any old coins that are still standing firm in this down market, or does 7% not even count as a gain in your eyes?
