On-chain monitoring platform Lookonchain found that after news of the Binance hack broke, a major trader at address 0x8add maxed out their leverage and placed massive short bets on BTC and ETH.
They opened a notional position worth nearly $97 million in total, including more than 22,000 ether and over 600 bitcoin. The short position is now sitting on unrealized gains of $2.29 million.
If panic continues to spread, the profits on the short position could grow further. But high leverage is a double-edged sword: if the market suddenly reverses, a position this large could be liquidated in an instant.
