Binance hack: what's confirmed and what isn't (Oct 30, UTC)
Confirmed on-chain: about $3.3B left two Binance hot wallets within an hour on Oct 29. Binance says user funds are safe and has paused withdrawals while it investigates. About $2.5B of the stablecoins involved has been frozen, per Binance's own tally.
Not confirmed: the real loss. Estimates run from $1.7B to $5.7B, and Binance hasn't published a number or a cause.
BTC dipped ~3% to ~$79K and BNB fell ~7% at last check.
I'm watching two things: when withdrawals resume, and whether SAFU (~$1B) gets used.
Expect scammers. Treat any DM promising to "unlock" or "compensate" your funds as fake.
Which worries you more: the hack itself, or the withdrawal freeze?
