Why are altcoins falling harder than BTC? The Binance hacker is selling them one by one on Uniswap.
【How they’re selling】
- Starting at 05:22 Beijing time on October 30, the hacker’s main receiving address began transferring altcoins taken from Binance in batches to a series of new addresses.
- Each new address first receives a small amount of ETH for gas fees, then receives the tokens and sells them for ETH in small batches on Uniswap.
【How much has been sold】 (on-chain figures as of 07:45 Beijing time)
- Sold out: $UNI 702 ten-thousands, ONDO 21.85 million, AAVE 128,000, PEPE 7.77 trillion, LINK 2.57 million
- Still selling: $ENA 2.17 hundred-million, 27.2 million sold and 190 million remaining; WLD 17.32 million sold and 16.22 million remaining; FUN 715 million, just started selling
【Impact on prices】
- Binance spot, 24 hours: ENA −15.6%, WLD −11.9%, FUN −10.9%, LINK −10.7%, UNI −10.1%, ONDO −9.8%, AAVE −9.8%, PEPE −8.6%
- BTC −3.6% and ETH −4.2% over the same period
【What to make of it】
Stablecoins can be frozen, but altcoins can’t, so the hacker is swapping them for ETH. ENA, WLD, and FUN haven’t been fully sold yet, so these tokens still face real selling pressure in the short term. The roughly 80,000 ETH obtained from the sales, along with the 318,000 ETH that have remained untouched in two addresses, are still in the hacker’s hands and have not yet reached an exchange.
The total stolen amount is subject to Binance’s official announcement.
