If a Hedera app can’t retrieve your balance, first check which API it’s still calling. Don’t assume a query error means there’s a problem with your assets.

The official migration guide lists AccountBalanceQuery as deprecated, and the status page clearly says to use the Mirror Node REST API for balance queries. The mainnet upgrade to v0.78.2 was completed on October 28, so anyone maintaining an older app should check this call chain in particular.

The division of responsibilities is straightforward: consensus nodes process transactions and reach consensus, while mirror nodes handle balance reads, preventing query requests from consuming consensus node resources. Developers can migrate to the Mirror Node REST API, and the official team also provides SDK alternatives for balance queries.

For ordinary users, an error on the balance page only means there’s a problem with the retrieval process. That alone doesn’t tell you the status of your on-chain assets. Check the official status page first, then cross-check through other reliable channels. That’s more useful than repeatedly reinstalling your wallet.

A technical upgrade doesn’t mean the price of HBAR will rise; the token still carries volatility risk.
