ZEC climbs back onto the trending search list on the Square | NU7 is approaching, but mainnet activation is not today | I’m waiting for confirmation at $1,400

My view is that the bullish conditions are still in place, but I’m not chasing the rally right now. Binance Square’s “Most Searched (6 Hours)” list has marked ZEC as gaining traction. This is an attention metric, not proof of capital inflows. A more substantive fact to verify comes from the Zcash Foundation: Zebra 7.0.0 now supports NU7 mainnet rules, with activation planned near block height 3543405, around November 5. The official announcement states that the target block interval will be shortened from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, with per-block rewards adjusted accordingly. Daily issuance and the 21 million coin cap will not increase as a result of faster block production. Nodes still need to upgrade, and the planned timing may change with actual block progress. Confusing “the code is available” with “the entire network has completed the upgrade” would overstate the current bullish impact.

Why does this matter for ZEC? Faster first confirmations and greater capacity for shielded transactions could improve the payment experience and wallet synchronization stability. But they cannot automatically create demand, much less guarantee a linear rise in the coin’s price. Markets often price in expectations ahead of an upgrade, and if the price runs up too quickly beforehand, it can easily pull back afterward as traders take profits. Farside shows net inflows of about $2.1 million into ZCSH on October 28, but the breakdown for October 29 is still blank. The page’s total of zero means the data is pending an update; it should not be reported as zero inflows for that day, and a single day’s flows should not be directly attributed to NU7.

When I checked ZEC/USD on Kraken, the price was around $1,357, with a daily open near $1,310, an intraday high of $1,396, and a low of $1,229. ZEC has indeed rebounded significantly from its low and is trading above the daily open. Rising search interest on Square and the price action are moving in the same direction, but the large intraday range also shows how much downside risk those chasing the price are taking on. BTC was around $81,367 at the same time, without a comparable independent breakout. This looks more like relative strength in ZEC itself; BTC’s stability cannot guarantee a successful breakout for smaller coins. Key levels to watch are the intraday ceiling at $1,396–$1,400, the daily open at $1,310, and the low at $1,229. If the price repeatedly fails to break through the upper range, the increased attention may simply reflect short-term crowding.

If I were trading this myself, I would stay out for now and remain in cash. I’d consider a spot long only after ZEC breaks above $1,400 on strong volume and then holds $1,390 on a retest, with an initial position no larger than 3% of my account. My first target would be $1,440 and my second $1,490. I’d sell half at the first target and move the stop on the rest of the position to near breakeven. I’d set the initial stop below $1,340 and exit if it is hit. If the price falls back below $1,310 first, I’d cancel this breakout plan. I’d also reassess if there were any substantive change to NU7’s timing or node upgrade status, rather than stubbornly holding on because of a claim that “interest is rising.” If the conditions aren’t met, there’s no trade—and no profit to review.
