On October 30, about $11 billion worth of $BTC options are set to expire, so this week’s volatility may not be over yet.
First, a quick recap: the Fed kept interest rates unchanged at 3.75%–4.00% on 10/28, but two officials voted for a hike, and Waller also did not reveal the path for December. BTC then pulled back after briefly surging from about 81.7k, and today it even touched 79.6k. It is now fluctuating around 80k, with a 24-hour range roughly between 79.6k and 81.7k.
Around option expiry, market makers’ hedging flows often amplify short-term volatility, and the round number of 80k is likely to be the main battleground. My own approach is not to chase pumps or dump into weakness, and to first see how funds move after expiry.
Do you think 80k can hold?
