But what’s really worth noting isn’t that they “didn’t cut,” but that 2 out of 12 voted against the decision—they wanted a rate hike, not a cut. After the meeting, market pricing for a December rate hike briefly reached around 85%, and the 10-year Treasury yield is still near 5%.
My take: we can probably put the year-end rate-cut scenario aside for now. With funding costs not coming down, it’ll be tough for ETH to rally on liquidity alone, and the 2,300 level will likely see a lot of back-and-forth.
But there’s a pretty contradictory signal on-chain: before the meeting, around 15,000 BTC flowed out of exchanges—the largest outflow in five weeks—suggesting someone may be moving coins into cold wallets. At the same time, a whale deposited more than $200 million worth of coins into Coinbase.
Some are accumulating, while others seem ready to sell.
