Institutions are heading for the exit, while whales are betting against each other.
On October 29, ETH was trading around $2,312.
It was down about 1.75% in 24 hours, with an intraday range of $2,293 to $2,392.
First, let’s look at the institutions.
On October 28, U.S. spot ETH funds saw net outflows of $21.41 million.
That marked their third consecutive day of outflows.
BlackRock’s fund saw $44.8 million flow out in a single day, while Fidelity’s fund actually took in $18.8 million.
One fund saw outflows, another saw inflows—but together, they still posted net outflows.
With most of October behind us, cumulative outflows have already topped $1.3 billion.
Now let’s look at the whales.
According to monitoring data on October 29, an address with a 5-for-5 winning record opened a 25x long position.
19,491 ETH, worth about $45.34 million.
Its cumulative realized profits are around $4.6 million, with unrealized gains of about $315,000.
The other side hasn’t been idle either.
On October 29, shorts accounted for about $4.332 billion of whale futures positions, or 53.59%.
Longs totaled about $3.751 billion, leaving shorts ahead by roughly $581 million.
One 5x short position has seen its unrealized profit grow from around $25,700 on October 27 to about $1.92 million.
Institutions are heading for the exit, and prices are moving lower.
Some traders are willing to open 25x longs, while others keep piling into shorts.
At $2,312, this is no longer a one-way market.
Personal opinion only; this is not investment advice.
