A few casual thoughts before the U.S. market opens

No new narrative in the U.S. market today, just price moves.

Let’s put the numbers on the table first, then talk about what they mean.

Nasdaq 26,550 (5-day -0.57%, Yahoo)
10-year Treasury yield 5.04% (5-day +1.86%)
VIX 17.27 (5-day -11.21%)

My take: S&P 500 -0.17%, Nasdaq -0.57%—the indexes aren’t diverging. If they aren’t diverging, don’t make up sector stories. Wait for the next volume spike.

Crypto comparison: BTC 80088 (24h -1.69%), ETH 2319 (-2.16%). ETH’s 24h move of -2.16% is weaker than BTC’s -1.69%; the exchange rate is 0.02895. Capital is concentrating in BTC, so I’m sitting out altcoins until they show strength.

What to watch next: Can the 10-year yield stabilize on the next move? If yields keep rising, I’ll treat rebounds in growth stocks and BTC as retracements.

My position: I’m not trying to catch the first drop. Until the decline is accompanied by a decrease in open interest, buying on the way down is still catching a falling knife.

Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing numbers are left blank.
Would you dare to add to your position at this funding rate?

Useful info: Basis = futures price minus spot price. With a positive basis, longs pay.
Takeaway: The strongest meme coin didn’t outperform BTC by +2%: treat it as volatility, not a sector trend.

Personal opinion; see the sources in the main text for the numbers. Not an instruction to place a trade.
