I’m looking at the news from the U.S. Treasury and realize: they’re not just buying back securities—they’re carefully holding the market’s hand.

On October 27, they bought back $6 billion in debt, taking the maximum amount from the $10.75 billion offered. These are bonds with maturities of 20–30 years, the most sensitive part of the yield curve. The total for October reached $26.08 billion.

The reason is clear: there are concerns that China is reducing its holdings, which could put pressure on the bond market. Buybacks are a way to support liquidity and prevent trading conditions from deteriorating.

The next operation is on November 4. So this isn’t a desperate move, but a systematic effort.

I’m not drawing any conclusions. But when buybacks of this scale happen in a series, I start watching the bond market more closely.
