A few sentences to explain the mempool:
Bitcoin Core has enabled full-RBF by default since version 28.0, meaning any unconfirmed transaction can be replaced by one with a higher fee rate.
Transactions in the mempool are visible across the network, which is what allows MEV bots to get ahead of others.
When receiving a payment, if you only see that the transaction has entered the mempool and is still unconfirmed, don’t rush to release the goods: the unconfirmed transaction may still be replaced.
