As for this morning’s drop, what did it have to do with last night? The important thing is that going long when we called it was profitable. Now that the bearish impact of the rate hike is behind us, there isn’t much else on the calendar next month apart from the midterm elections at the beginning of the month. Let’s wait for the rebound!
Bitcoin is still consolidating. There’s no need to guess whether it’s going up or down—just remember this: as long as it doesn’t break below 793, it should rebound. If it does break below, expect a deeper pullback. Enter with a small position at the support below and that’s it. I’ve been talking about the levels for going long over the past few days (75–765); if it wicks down there, go for it.
On the upside, watch 82. If it can’t get above that, it’ll come back down. A move above 82 would signal a short-term reversal into an uptrend, with 84 as the next target. If it can’t break through, expect another pullback. A close above 84 would mean this downtrend is completely over; after that, look to 87.
We’ve already had a drop this morning, so we should see a short-term rebound. If you want to short, wait for the rebound to reach resistance before entering. In any case, shorts on Bitcoin below 81 are getting a bit close to the bottom. The safer short entry is near last night’s high—it might not get there today, though.
