If preferred stock switches to “daily dividends,” will total returns increase? The answer is: no.

According to the results of Strategy’s (formerly MicroStrategy) October 28 special shareholder meeting and filings with the SEC, as well as reports by Investing.com, Blocktempo, and others, common shareholders voted approximately 99.3% in favor of amending the designation certificates for four classes of preferred stock, changing regular dividend payments from semi-monthly/quarterly to every business day. The securities involved are STRF (10%), STRC (floating rate, currently around 12%), STRK (8%), and STRD (10%).

Here are a few points that really matter to holders 👇

🔹 The payment schedule is changing, not the rate. The company made clear that the annualized dividend rates and total amounts payable will remain unchanged. What changes is how often the money arrives: payments will shift from semi-monthly/quarterly to every business day. Interest will still accrue on weekends and holidays, with payments credited on the next business day.

🔹 The timeline is already set. For STRC, dividends are expected to accrue daily from November 1, 2026, with the first daily payment expected on November 2. For STRF, STRK, and STRD, daily accrual is expected to begin on January 1, 2027, with the first payment on January 4. These changes are subject to the amended certificates being filed and becoming effective, and dividends will still be paid only “when declared by the board of directors.”

🔹 Who had voting rights? Only common shareholders (with a record date around September 25) could vote. Preferred shareholders had no voting rights this time—so don’t interpret “approved” to mean the preferred shareholders themselves raised their hands.

🔹 What does this mean for everyday investors? If you use preferred stocks for cash-flow planning, payments will arrive more frequently, but don’t expect the total coupon to get bigger. For the company, the aim is to shorten the gap between “accrual” and “cash,” helping support price stability in the secondary market. This is separate from “how much more BTC it has accumulated.”

Put simply: this is a payment-process change for a financing instrument, not a rate-hike bonus. Would daily payments make you more willing to consider STRC, or will you still focus only on the discount to par and the interest rate? Let’s talk in the comments 👇
