BTC surged above $81,700, then fell below $80,000: a round trip on Fed decision night.
On October 28, the Fed held rates steady at 3.75%–4.00%, with the decision passing by a 10–2 vote. After the announcement, BTC briefly climbed above $81,700, then pulled back. This morning it fell below $80,000 and is now trading around $79,800; ETH is around $2,308.
Over the past 24 hours, about $356 million in positions were liquidated across the market, including roughly $205 million in longs. BTC futures liquidations totaled about $94 million, and ETH futures liquidations about $72 million—the people who chased the first candle paid their tuition first.
My take: The initial surge followed by a pullback after the news was priced in shows that the $80,000 area remains a battleground between bulls and bears. Until a clear direction emerges, position size matters more than conviction. Investing involves risk, and leverage can magnify losses.
What do you think happens next: A) Hold above $80,000 and rebound, or B) retest the $77,000 area? Pick one in the comments.
