Trump’s oil and gas holdings have earned him an additional $35.8 million this year, bringing his net holdings to $81.6 million.

The figures come from a report by the Joint Economic Committee of Congress and have nearly doubled since the end of 2025. The backdrop is oil prices: Brent and WTI are up more than 70% and nearly 75%, respectively, this year. The S&P 500 Energy Index has risen about 52% year to date, reaching a record high, while the S&P 500 has gained nearly 13% over the same period.

For the institutional angle, what can be verified isn’t the rate of return, but the White House spokesperson’s statement that the portfolio is independently managed by a third-party financial institution. That defines who has control over the management, not who receives the returns.

If later disclosures show that these holdings weren’t passively held in accordance with the third party’s established strategy, that assessment no longer holds.
