Search interest is rising, but the price is still scraping along the floor: Is $SEI worth a closer look today?
Bull case:
- SEI is marked as trending up among the most-searched tokens on Square (6 hours)—people are searching for it again;
- This morning, Finnhub’s Binance quote showed a spot price of $0.054, with an intraday range of $0.052–$0.05453, up about 1.81%. OKX put the spot price at $0.05422, up 1.96% over 24 hours, with roughly 669 million tokens traded worth over $36.27 million. Volume is still there;
- Bybit points to progress in RWA tokenization and the DeFi ecosystem as drivers of the fundamentals—the narrative is still alive.
Bear case:
- The same OKX data shows losses of 6.60% over 7 days and 25.39% over 30 days. Today’s small gain hasn’t even made up for a week’s losses;
- Bybit puts it plainly: global risk-off sentiment and a broader market pullback are weighing on the price. Short-term support is at $0.04 and resistance at $0.07. The price is still far from resistance, and without volume, it’ll be hard for the rally to continue;
- Square’s Fear & Greed Index is at 46, in neutral territory. PCE and GDP data are also due tonight, and the broader market direction is still uncertain. Rising search interest doesn’t necessarily mean there’s buying pressure.
My take: Rising search interest doesn’t mean the trend has reversed. For now, I’d treat today’s move as a basing rebound and wouldn’t chase the intraday spike. A sustained move above $0.055 would suggest the decline may have bottomed; a break below $0.052 puts the $0.04 area in view. I’d change my mind if the price holds above $0.07 on strong volume—I’d then accept that this isn’t just a rebound.
What do you think: When a coin’s search interest rises, are people getting in early, or are there only spectators left searching for it?
