U.S. stock futures fell after Alphabet’s earnings missed expectations, while the Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged. According to Sina Finance, Alphabet shares plunged 10% in after-hours trading on weak sales, with Nasdaq 100 futures down 0.8% and S&P 500 futures off 0.3%. The decline renewed market concerns about companies’ billions of dollars in AI investments. Jamie Hannah, deputy head of investment and capital markets at Van Eck Associates Corp. in Sydney, said Alphabet’s results showed that the AI boom was generating revenue while also disrupting traditional profit models. Asian futures pointed to cautious sentiment ahead of Samsung Electronics’ key earnings report. Microsoft shares rose 2.8% after hours on robust cloud sales, while Oracle shares had earlier surged 11% after the company issued a long-term outlook for free cash flow.
