A few signals before a meme coin takes off

I only pay attention to a meme coin if it has independent buying pressure; otherwise, I treat it as volatility.

I gauge sentiment by price changes, not by buzz in chat groups.

PEPE 0.00000483 (+10.02%), DOGE 0.0792 (+1.49%), SHIB 0.00000494 (+1.44%), WIF 0.1805 (+0.78%)

For comparison: BTC 80605 (24h +0.26%).

PEPE’s 24h gain of +10.02% is clearly stronger than BTC’s +0.26%, indicating independent buying pressure. But BONK is up just +0.66%, so there’s no sector-wide confirmation. I’d only trade the leader, not chase the hope of catch-up gains.

If the gap between the leader and the weakest coin narrows to within 2 percentage points, the independent buying pressure is gone, and I’ll exit my position.

Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing figures are not filled in.
Would you place an order at the pullback level, or wait for the candle to close?

Takeaway: OI is the notional value of open positions, not trading volume.
Idea: ETH weaker than BTC: capital is contracting, so pause altcoin right-side entries for now.
