Annualized rate is simply the current rate multiplied by the number of periods in a year. Rates change every period, so don’t treat it as the actual cost for a whole year.
Many people care more about how long the rate has stayed there: several consecutive periods at an extreme level are more meaningful than a single spike.
Learning to read indicators isn’t hard. The hard part is sticking to the rules when emotions are running high.
