RLUSD is coming to three Coinbase platforms, with 1:1 conversions to dollars and stablecoins.

On October 28, Ripple announced a partnership with Coinbase to expand access to RLUSD in the U.S. market. RLUSD will be available on Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange, and the retail app, with 1:1 conversions to dollars and USD-denominated stablecoins. The companies also plan to enable RLUSD as collateral on Coinbase Global Exchange.

For stablecoins, the number of access points isn’t what matters—collateral use is. 1:1 convertibility only shows that a token is easy to use; being accepted as collateral shows that it can stick around. The next thing to watch is when collateral support actually goes live on Coinbase Global Exchange. If RLUSD is listed for trading but collateral support is delayed, the partnership will still be limited to conversions.
