🇹🇭 Thailand’s Supreme Court rules that Bitcoin is property in the legal sense: it can be held, traded, and protected by law

In its judgment in criminal case No. 4929/2569, Thailand’s Supreme Court ruled that Bitcoin has market value, can be held and traded, and can be exchanged for cash when there is a buyer—making it property in the legal sense.

In the case, the victim exchanged $50,000 for $BTC and transferred it to a criminal gang. The court held that the Bitcoin involved was not intangible, valueless data, but property that could be the subject of a property crime.

It is worth noting that this ruling only confirms Bitcoin’s status as property; it does not grant Bitcoin the same legal tender status as the Thai baht.

My view: This kind of judicial recognition gives Bitcoin a clearer legal standing and is a useful signal for users following regulatory developments. However, it does not mean Bitcoin has been granted legal tender status, so it should be viewed rationally.

How to participate: Search for $BTC on Binance Spot to view its price and trade.
