👀 The Fed’s rate decision is tonight. The market is waiting for a few words, but prices have already moved.

$BTC is back around $80,649, up about 0.9% over 24 hours. Ethereum is around $2,333, up 0.6%; BNB is around $749, up 1.1%; and SOL is around $101, up 0.9%. Bitcoin’s dip below $80,000 on Monday gave everyone a scare, but it reclaimed that ground during Wednesday’s Asian session. This rebound looks more like “waiting for news” than “reacting to news.”

Here’s an interesting detail: spot and futures traders are moving in opposite directions. Data shows that Bitcoin holders withdrew a net total of about 14,942 coins in a single day—the largest daily outflow in five weeks. Coins off exchanges can’t be dumped immediately. Meanwhile, shorts have a slight edge in Binance futures, with a long-to-short ratio of about 0.95 and open interest of around $9.15 billion. Spot traders are accumulating while futures traders are hedging—the divergence itself is a signal.

My short-term take: tonight’s story isn’t the decision itself (the market broadly expects rates to stay put), but the Fed’s tone on a December rate hike afterward. Monday already showed what happens when “rate-hike expectations rise → risk assets sell off first.” So if tonight’s tone is hawkish, resistance around $81,700 could quickly turn back into pressure. If it’s dovish, buyers below $80,000 will have reason to keep stepping in.

As for trading, don’t chase. If you want to get involved, wait for tonight’s news to land and consider entering only after the price holds above $80,000. If you’re already in, keep an eye on around $79,500; if it breaks, reduce your position and wait. Galaxy’s report this week said the bear market could end as early as June—even if that call is right, there’s no need to catch the bottom tonight.

Will you stay up tonight for the Fed, or check the results in the morning and decide then?
