$INIT Today’s recap: The broader market barely moved, yet INIT rose 40%.
Binance Spot, 24h: INIT around $0.23, up +40.4%, with a range of $0.1572–$0.2317 and trading volume of about 11 million USDT. Over the same period, BTC gained just +0.46% and ETH +0.04%. This move was largely driven by INIT-specific news, not by a rising market.
Why it rose: Today, the Initia Foundation approved a funding commitment to fully restore the 1:1 peg of assets affected by the October 23 security incident once the chain resumes operations. These assets—Noble USDC, WETH, and AUSD0 used as collateral for iUSD—have shortfalls capped at 1.08 million USDC, 105 ETH, and 1.4 million AUSD0, respectively. Funds will be disbursed after reconciliation is complete and final approval is granted. The recovery plan has been drafted and is undergoing an audit by security partners. The market interpreted this as a “backstop in place,” not as meaning the incident is already behind us.
But the other side of the story deserves a mention: the chain is still paused, and the team has not announced when it will restart. On October 26, Upbit and Bithumb designated INIT as an asset under caution, and deposits and withdrawals on Korean exchanges remain restricted. The team has also said that no new native INIT was minted in this incident; the losses were on the bridged-asset side. That’s why the price can rebound, but the move shouldn’t be taken as a sign that “everything is back to normal.”
Looking at price levels: INIT is still about 85% below its all-time high of around $1.44 in May 2025. Today’s high near $0.2317 is the first short-term resistance level to watch. A drop back toward the intraday low would suggest that this news-driven rebound is losing steam. A news-driven rally while the chain remains offline means volatility is likely to be much higher than usual.
