Former adviser to Ukraineโs Ministry of Defense ๐บ๐ฆ Serhii Sternenko refuted Elon Muskโs claim that the Ukrainian military ๐บ๐ฆ uses Starlink on combat drones.
โElon Musk claims that Ukraine allegedly violated Starlinkโs terms of use by using the system on combat drones.
As someone who was once involved in the Ministry of Defenseโs internal processes, I can say with certainty that this is not true.
In February this year, a whitelist was introduced. Fixed terminals can be registered by both military and civilian personnel. But for any satellite terminal to work while in motion, it must be added to a special list and connected to the military Starshield system. Otherwise, no satellite communications terminal in Ukraine can operate.
In other words, using civilian Starlink for drone missions is technically impossible. All drone missions that require satellite communications can only be carried out using Starshield.
We are very grateful to the United States and SpaceX for providing access to critical satellite communications. Ukraine has not violated the terms of use.โ
Meanwhile, Elon Musk continues to distance himself from the restrictions imposed on Ukraineโs ๐บ๐ฆ Starshield system, claiming that the system depends directly on the U.S. government ๐บ๐ธ.$SOL
